A day of my football training session

    A defender’s training session usually begins with a thorough warm-up, including light jogging, dynamic stretches, and agility drills to prepare the body for intense movement and reduce injury risk. Once warmed up, the focus shifts to defensive footwork and positioning, where the defender practices staying low, maintaining balance, and adjusting their stance to shadow attackers effectively. This is followed by tackling and interception drills, emphasizing timing, precision, and decision-making in 1v1 situations. Defenders also work on their passing and distribution, executing both short and long passes under pressure, especially focusing on playing out from the back and switching the play when needed. Aerial duels and heading drills are included to strengthen the defender’s ability to win balls in the air and clear threats from set pieces.
